Editor’s Journal: Covering Immigration

As a second-generation American, the immigrant experience has been part of my world—but never fully my own.

As the new editor in chief of The Bull magazine at Pierce College, I chose immigration as our Spring 2026 theme at a time when these stories feel more urgent than ever.

This issue aims to broaden readers’ perspectives and shine a light on unheard voices in the community.

For my main article, I will work alongside one of our photographers, Victor Montiel, to interview individuals who have been deported to Tijuana, Mexico.

This will challenge me as a journalist as I work to report on these stories and gain a deeper understanding of what the “American dream” has evolved into.

As an editor, I look forward to the stories ahead and to what I will learn from my fellow staff members.

Signing off
